(Update @ 7:46 p.m.): The incident near Pandosy Street and Cadder Avenue appears to have now ended.

(Original story @ 7:24 p.m.): There is a heavy police presence in South Central Kelowna tonight.

One witness said he saw “10 police cars” and lots of officers “carrying big guns” near Pandosy Street and Cadder Avenue, which were blocked by police

He added: "They all had automatic weapons and shotguns. They've got the whole place locked off."

Another witness who lives nearby said she saw "this [female police officer] running through my yard with a gun out".

An officer told KelownaNow the reason for the police presence would be explained at a later point.
