Kelowna families will miss out the Grenfell Road Haunted House this year, however a new, safer event will be taking its place.

This Halloween, the organizers of the annual haunted house will instead be doing a parade through neighbourhoods.

The haunted house began as a yard display for creator and mastermind Paul Coxe.

With the help of friends and family, he sets up a labyrinth filled with props, actors and animatronics.

Now a full-blown maze of terror, the house usually runs throughout the end of October and raises money for local charities.

Clarence Johnson, a friend of Coxe and a helper with the haunted house, says that even though they can’t have the haunted house this year, they’re excited to be filling the void with a new event.

The parade is taking place on the eve of Halloween and on Halloween day.

On Oct. 30, it will begin at 6 pm and will end at 8 pm, and will start in the Kettle Valley/Mission area.
