An obituary for a man killed during a dynamic Kelowna police incident in late March paints a picture of a fulfilling Okanagan life cut far too short.
Jeremy Kofoed was just 46 years old when he lost his life inside the Adventure Trucks building on Adams Road on March 27.
His sister claims he was fatally shot by “a known acquaintance,” who then started a fire in the building and took his own life.
At this point, police have only confirmed that they found two bodies within the building when they finally were able to safely enter the building in the days that followed the highly-publicized incident.

Kofoed’s obituary confirms that he lived his whole life in Kelowna and his early years included plenty of travelling, adventuring and good times with his family.
He continued that lifestyle with his own family in his adult years, spending plenty of time enjoying an active and adventurous lifestyle with his wife Sherri and three children Kylee, Mathias and Caleb.
He and Sherri split up after 23 years of marriage, but Kofoed was engaged to his partner Liyah at the time of his death and is “deeply loved and missed” by her and her son Rocco.
Kofoed spent 25 years at Kelowna Toyota, customizing and accesorizing trucks for locals before beginning his journey of building and operating Adventure Trucks seven years ago.

“He helped so many people in so many different ways – pulling cars out of the ditch, helping family and friends move, working on projects with others, digging with his excavator, advising us with our car problems, just to name a few,” the obituary states.
“We will always remember Jeremy for his huge heart, gentleness, generosity, and fun-loving nature.”
The obituary ends by saying Kofoed’s passing leaves “a void in the hearts of those who loved him” and his spirit will continue to live on.
A memorial service for Kofoed will be held at Trinity Church in Kelowna at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 23. A GoFundMe has also been created to support his kids moving forward.
