The 9th annual Hungry Hungry Half Marathon half marathon returns this weekend.

From 7 am until noon, participants will be running in support of the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

Participants will begin and finish the half marathon at the Apple Bowl, starting at 7:15, and weaving their way along the Rail Trail and through some of the downtown parks.

The route will pass through Knox Mountain Park, Waterfront Park, Stuart Park and City Park along the promenade, as well as along some portions of the Abbott Street running and biking trail.

This will result in some traffic impacts in the North End.

A news release for the city says the lights at Clement Avenue and Cerise Drive will be off and managed by traffic control personnel from 7 am until 11:30 am to allow runners to cross the intersection.

There will be intermittent closures at the  intersection of Mountain Avenue and Kelview Street, as well as at the intersection of Ellis Street and Bay Avenue, the city says.

People living near those intersections can expect minor delays.

Additionally, motorists can expect delays at the crosswalks on Manhattan Drive, Sunset Drive and the entrance to Knox Mountain Park.

The Apple Bowl running track will be unavailable for public use from 6 am until 1 pm on Saturday to allow for setup and teardown for the event.

The city reminds all motorists to keep an eye out for runners as well as participants along the route.
