The Kelowna Gospel Mission opened its doors on Saturday afternoon, welcoming hungry guests to join in on their 40th annual Christmas Dinner.

A festively decorated KGM and a group of volunteers buzzed with energy, ready to serve nearly 1,000 meals to hungry locals within a short six-hour stint.

Though the one-day event only runs from noon to 6 p.m., the staff at the KGM have been preparing for over a month for the dinner that will consist of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes — and other traditional holiday fixings.

Over 50 volunteers including local business owners and local politicians, along with KGM staff, dressed in their holiday best to help plate, serve and tidy up during the event.

Not only will attendees get a hearty and warm meal, but a cozy environment filled with good company—a particularly important staple this time of year.
