The Kangaroo Creek Farm — one of the Okanagan's tourist hot spots, and day trip destinations — has scheduled a tentative reopening date after postponing their original date due to COVID-19 complications.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the kangaroo farm said they plan to open on May 31, but cautioned that the date isn't finalized.

Their website lists their original opening date as Mar. 20, which was later postponed indefinitely because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Given recent developments, we have decided that it would be irresponsible to encourage people to gather for the non-essential purpose of entertainment," a post on their website says. "Nobody is more disappointed about this than we are."

Kangaroo Creek Farm has also asked potential visitors to provide suggestions that would make the farm feel safer to attend if they do reopen for the season.

Some visitors have commented on their post recommending online ticket sales, a supply of hand sanitizer and closing bathrooms.

So far, the farm has said there will be washrooms, with limited availability; is seeking more hand sanitizer and is looking into online ticket sales.

"This is going to be a huge experiment. We are going to try our very best to adjust our practices to the new normal," the farm said in a comment.
