KelownaNow awarded 2023 ALS Society of BC Exceptional Public Awareness - Media Award

Local media and news company, KelownaNow, has been recognized for their efforts on raising public awareness about ALS.

On Tuesday, the ALS Society of BC presented Jim Csek, founder, COO and CFO of Csek Creative from KelownaNow with the 2023 ALS Society of BC Exceptional Public Awareness - Media Award.

The award recognizes KelownaNow’s support during the June 2023 ALS Awareness Month.

“Having a media partner in Kelowna helps the ALS Society of BC to raise awareness throughout the Okanagan.” said Wendy Toyer, Executive Director of the ALS Society of BC.

“KelownaNow’s extensive market reach has increased support for ALS BC events taking place in the Okanagan and throughout BC.”

The award was presented at a ceremony hosted by the ALS Society of BC in Richmond.

That includes their editorial coverage before and after the annual Move to Cure ASLS – Kelowna event, coverage of the BC Lights up purple to support people living with ASL, the PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS and the June 2 Gehrig Nooner at the Nat.

The award was presented to Csek at a “Celebration of Volunteerism and Service” ceremony hosted by the ALS Society of BC in Richmond.

Csek said he was “profoundly honored” to receive this award from the ALS Society of BC on behalf of the entire team at KelownaNow and Csek Creative, both based out of Kelowna.

“This recognition not only underscores our media platform's dedication to fostering a stronger community but also highlights our commitment to disseminating vital information,” he said. 

“We believe that organizations like the ALS Society of BC are the cornerstone of a robust and healthy community, deserving of both media attention and unwavering support. Our partnership with the ALS Society is a testament to our shared vision of creating a more informed and supportive society for all."
