It’s a special weekend to celebrate the father figures in your life and, as always, have some fun in and around Kelowna.

You can take part in some local sporting events, try something new or just spend quality time with your loved ones. 

Check out our weekend guide below with a selection of our favourite events taking place.

Friday, June 16

Passion Fruits Improv Soap Opera

Laugh along with this Penticton improv group as they follow a format similar to ‘Whose Line is it Anyway?’ Followed by their own improvised soap opera, you’ll get to enjoy a fresh take everytime. More info here.

Do Your : bit Workshop

Make a difference and help meet the UN sustainable development goal by learning to use the micro: bit thermometer to measure changes in temperature. Aimed at 9-12 year olds, the workshop is perfect for those budding climate scientists. More info here.

Saturday, June 17

GonzoFest and Golf Tournament 2023

Attend an 80s themed golf tournament and festival all in one day at this locally organised event! Taking place at Sunset Ranch Golf Course, you can enjoy the sunshine and live music after a day on the green. More info here.

Wine Country Half Marathon 

Race your way through the beautiful sights of Kelowna wineries and the waterfront in this half-marathon that ends with an awards ceremony and refreshments downtown. If taking part isn’t for you, then cheer on from the sidelines. More info here.

A Reel Fishing Derby Competition

Snag some fish and maybe a prize or two as you spend Father’s Day weekend taking part in this sporting event. Bring photos of your catch of the day afterwards and enjoy brunch at Rustic Reel to celebrate. More info here.

Golden Hour at Grizzli  

Listen to music from a string quartet whilst the sun sets over westside trail vineyards. At Grizzli Winery, your ticket will include an up-front seat to enjoy the music, a charcuterie picnic box and a glass of wine. Expect songs from the Beatles, Bach and Broadway. More info here.

Papa and Me Storytime

Share some quality time with your little ones for Father’s Day at this special bookstore reading. The books will follow the theme of celebrating fathers and grandfathers and two time slots will be held to account for different ages. More info here.

Sunday, June 18

Father’s Day Market

Join your dad in a day at the market where they can choose their own Father’s Day treats and gifts from over 90 vendors. You’ll find products like local distilled spirits, dry-cured meats and hot sauces plus much more! Info here.

The Downtown Scoop

Take a stroll down memory lane with this historical walking tour which will educate you on Kelowna’s past. History lovers will enjoy learning about the creation of Bernard Avenue, fires that hit downtown and what we can learn from the Syilx Okanagan people. More info here.

Legendary Libations: Whisky Cocktails Class

Master your own whisky cocktails with bar travelling man Harry Dosanj. Starting with an Old Fashioned and moving onto more modern recipes like the Whisky Sour, you’ll soon become the most popular cocktail maker amongst your friends! More info here.

Meditate with Horses

Connect with these peaceful creatures as you take in the sounds of the forest in this meditation with horses class. Taking place at Spirit Ridge Equestrian Centre, it starts with a tour of the animals, followed by Yin yoga and then finally the meditation. More info here.
