The Kelowna Garden Club is gearing up to host its 27th annual Flower Show today.

And while it’s just over a quarter century of flower shows, this year’s show will mark a much more historical milestone.

The event will celebrate 100 years of growing for the Kelowna Garden Club that was founded in 1924.

It's a free show that will be held between 11 am and 3 pm at Guisachan Heritage Park.

There will be more than 150 entries in horticulture, flower arrangements, potted plants and children’s categories on display.

Attendees can also expect speakers, demonstrations and workshops throughout the day, as well as ‘Master Gardeners’ available to answer any questions you may have.

There will also be plenty of floral art displays, arts and crafts vendors, and a walk and talk with Don Burnett, a household name in Kelowna’s gardening and landscaping world.

The Kelowna Garden Club was founded a century ago with the objective to promote and increase interest in and knowledge of gardening, as well as the culture of plants and flowers.

“We do this through monthly meetings with guest speakers, lectures, flower shows, garden tours and excursions, workshops and more,” explains the club’s website.

“We are an active, friendly group with a wealth of information and fun activities to share. All ages are welcome and we offer both individual and family memberships.”
