He's only 43, but he didn't jump the queue.
Kelowna Mayor Colin Basran confirmed today that he is among the nearly 770,000 British Columbians who have received a COVID-19 vaccine.
That's one in six of us.
Basran volunteers at Kelowna General Hospital's Perking Lot. He got his vaccine along with others who give their time at the hospital.
"All volunteers at KGH were encouraged to do so because of our interactions with patients and front line staff," explained Basran when contacted by KelownaNow.
In a news release issued later in the afternoon, KGH Foundation CEO Doug Rankmore said it was part of Phase 2 of the vaccine rollout.
"It is the responsible thing to do if you're coming into contact with people in a patient care setting," said Rankmore.
Basran has volunteered in the KGH coffee shop for more than a year.
If BC’s vaccine supply stays on schedule, everyone in the province will have access to their first dose by July 1st.
