The Kelowna RCMP will be forming a procession past the Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) this evening, as well as tomorrow night, to show their gratitude to frontline healthcare workers.
Citizens in Kelowna and all over Canada have been coming up with ways to show their support at a distance.
The RCMP, who are also actively doing their part to fight the pandemic, are joining in to demonstrate their appreciation for doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
The procession will start at the Kelowna RCMP Detachment, and will continue westbound on Clement Avenue, southbound on Water Street and along Pandosy Street past Kelowna General Hospital.
The gesture will start at about 7:30 pm, and the officers will disperse to take care of their regular duties after cruising past KGH.
During the procession, the marked police vehicles will have the emergency lights activated with sirens “chirping.”
"This event has been inspired by the utmost respect, admiration, and appreciation the Kelowna RCMP have for our Health Care professionals who have been tasked with a difficult job during the challenges of the pandemic of COVID-19," says Cpl Michael Kube of the Kelowna RCMP.
"We wanted to show our support for everything they are doing for our community."
