RCMP investigating report of a man in Rutland ‘waving a rifle around’ Tuesday night

Last night, around 10:30 pm Kelowna RCMP responded to a firearms call.

Officers received third-hand reports of an agitated man waving a rifle around a residence in the 2600 block of Springfield Road.

Police responded, and immediately closed down the area due to the potential threat to the public.

Kelowna RCMP, with the assistance of the Southeast District Critical Incident Program Emergency Response Team (ERT), contained the area.

A search warrant was executed at the residence, and the occupants of the house exited peacefully.

Multiple firearms were seized during their investigation, and police are still looking into the careless use of firearms. 

The investigation is ongoing and NowMedia will update the story as more information is provided.
