Kelowna RCMP officer attacked after boarding bus in Rutland, police say

A Kelowna Mountie has been assaulted after boarding a bus in Rutland. 

Police said the incident occurred at the 200 block of Rutland Road North between 6:15 pm and 7 pm on Thursday evening.

The RCMP boarded the bus after receiving a report of a “possible weapon displayed within a group of individuals.”

“As an officer attempted to arrest one of the individuals, she was assaulted and suffered minor injuries,” police explained in a public notice.

They added: “The assault resulted in a large police presence around the bus before the individual was placed in handcuffs and transported to cells.”

The RCMP said the officer has remained on duty despite the attack.

Police are now asking for dash cam or security footage from the area between 6:15 pm and 7 pm.
