UPDATE: Imitation firearm seized in last night's 'high risk incident' on Pandosy

(UPDATE: Oct. 26 @ 11:02 am): An investigation is still ongoing after last night's 'high risk incident' in Pandosy that brought multiple individuals into custody.

“The area was cordoned off and assistance was requested from the Southeast District Emergency Response Team,” says Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy of the Kelowna RCMP. “Five suspects were taken into custody without incident.”

The three hour incident in the 1900 block of Pandosy, led to the seizure of a crossbow and an imitation firearm.

“All suspects have been released from custody without charges, and our investigation is ongoing. At this time we believe this incident was caused by someone carrying an imitation firearm in public,” says Inspector Adam MacIntosh of the Kelowna RCMP. “Fortunately, the matter was resolved safely and professionally by our officers without incident.”

No further information is being released at this time


(UPDATE: Oct. 26 @ 5:03 am): Pandosy Street has reopened following the arrest of a man reported to have a weapon. 

The RCMP closed the road between Lake Avenue and Elliott Avenue sometime after 5 pm on Monday during the "high risk incident."

Mounties said the man was in a home in the 1900 block of Pandosy.

“The area was cordoned off and assistance was requested from the Southeast District Emergency Response Team,” said Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

“The suspect has been arrested and the investigation is ongoing. At this time we are confident that there is no further danger to the public.”

The road was reopened at around 11 pm. 


(Original story: Oct. 25 @ 6:40 pm): The Kelowna RCMP have closed off a portion of Pandosy Street as they investigate a high risk incident. 

Just after 5 pm tonight, police were notified of a man with what appeared to be a weapon outside of a building in the 1900-block of Pandosy. 

Officers appeared on scene and determined that the suspect was in a residence in the area.

“At this time, the suspect is believed to be contained, and we do not believe there is an active threat to the community,” says Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy of the Kelowna RCMP. 

“We have closed Pandosy Street from Lake Avenue to Elliott Avenue as we deal with this matter. We are requesting that the public remain away from the area at this time.”
