The Kelowna Fire Department managed to successfully extinguish a boat that was being engulfed by flames on Saturday afternoon along Okanagan Lake.

First responding officers found the pleasure boat ablaze against a dock on a loading ramp within the 500 block of Cook Rd.

According to the KFD, five people were on board at the time of the fire and all of them did manage to escape.

Two individuals were treated for minor smoke inhalation by BC Ambulance Service, with the others unharmed.

Nine KFD personnel responded to the fire including two engines and a command vehicle, using hand lines to protect exposure and knock down the flames.

BCAS and RCMP also responded.

While the boat did receive excessive damage, the dock only received minor damage. Okanagan Lake was not contaminated with gasoline or oil from the incident.

The fire is being deemed non-suspicious.
