There were multiple reasons why Jasmine Brown picked a career as an electrician.
As a mother, she chose to pursue a career in skilled trades because it’s reliable, consistent, well-paying work that allows her to provide for her daughter.
But it also helps that the fourth year electrician apprentice has a fascination with electricity that made the decision to pursue a career as an electrician an even easier one.
It looks as though she’s made the right decision because she was just recognized by the Industry Training Authority (ITA).
Brown was named a top prize winner in the #YourTicket contest held during Apprenticeship Recognition Week earlier in November.
Apprenticeship Recognition Week is provincially proclaimed and celebrated annually in November.
This recognition marks a time to reflect on the impact apprentices have in our communities.
It also raises awareness about the importance of developing a highly trained workforce to support BC’s growing economy.
Okanagan College offers many skilled trades programs, which you learn more about by visiting the school’s website.
