According to experts, legal cannabis is on the verge of becoming a multi-billion dollar industry in Canada.

In preparation of Canada's proposed legalization of marijuana next July, The Canadian Securities Exchange is hosting Kelowna's inaugural Cannabis in the Capital Markets seminar.

The event takes place Tuesday afternoon, September 26th, at downtown Kelowna’s Innovation Centre and will feature presentations from Keith Inman of Pushor Mitchell LLP, Kelowna’s DOJA Cannabis Company and several other speakers.

Multiple companies from the Okanagan that are currently working in the legal cannabis sector will be sharing information and speaking in anticipation of the proposed legalization of marijuana in Canada on July 1st, 2018.

The informative event will provide an overview of the current business landscape for the cannabis sector in Canada, including the sentiment amongst the investment industry, profiles of deals and companies in the space as well as perspectives on major developments in the sector going forward.

“I think in 10 years down to the road we are going to see it being legal everywhere in North America making it a huge $50-100B dollar a year sales market,” said Alex Blanchard of Lexaria Bioscience.

“Lexaria Bioscience doesn’t touch the plant, we are a technology company that has created a delivery technology that works in the cannabis sector so we will give background on what our technology is and how it is applicable to this growing market,” explained Blanchard.

Attendees will have the chance to ask questions to panelists and speakers during the Q&A session following the presentations.
