A Kelowna man is in custody and facing charges after an incident that saw him allegedly assault multiple people, including RCMP officers.

The police responded to a residence in the 2700 block of KLO Road shortly before 8 pm on Wednesday after learning that the 35-year-old man had allegedly assaulted another adult victim.

Officers arrived and placed the suspect under arrest for assault, but it wasn’t a smooth process.

“The accused allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted officers,” explained an RCMP release. “He was taken into custody with the assistance of backup officers who arrived on scene.”

The suspect and victim were known to each other and this incident is believed to be an isolated one.

No further information will be released at this time.

The accused will remain in custody while he awaits his first court appearance.

Anyone with information regarding this active investigation is urged to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
