A Kelowna man is lucky to have escaped his home alive after a scary incident over the weekend.
The RCMP was called to the 300 block of Academy Way shortly before 4 am on Sunday after the man woke up to find another man “seemingly pouring gasoline around the residence,” police said.
The suspect, a 37-year-old Kelowna man, was allegedly threatening to set the home on fire.
Fortunately, the resident of the home was able to flee the home and escape any injuries before police arrived and took the suspect into custody.
“It is fortunate that no one was injured in this incident,” said Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy. “These two men were known to each other and we do not believe that there is further danger to the public.”
A criminal investigation is underway and forensic specialists continue to gather physical evidence at the scene.
In the meantime, the suspect has been released from custody on a number of conditions and has a future court date.
