Anyone looking to honour the memory of a loved one can do so by placing an ornament on the Tree of Memories.

Each year, the large tree at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery gets filled with ornaments and this year will be no different.

“The Tree of Memories gives residents a chance to reflect and remember those who’ve passed on with a simple, seasonal gesture.” said Tracey Hillis, cemetery manager.

“We’re honoured to be able to host this annual initiative that has become an important annual tradition for many families in our community.”

You can find the tree under the dome at the Promontory Green Interment Garden and you also have the option to hang ornaments on the spruce trees that frame Bennett Memorial and Legacy Gardens.

Visitors are welcome to place ornaments on the trees between 8 am and 5 pm daily until Monday, Jan. 8.

Those who wish to keep their ornaments after the holiday season should remove them on their own at any point before Sunday, Jan. 14.

The Tree of Memories program has been offered annually at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery since 1998.
