This Wednesday, Kelowna’s fifth annual Inclusion Chain will come together once again and the entire community is welcome to join in.
The Inclusion Chain event was originally scheduled for earlier in October, but due to weather conditions at that time the event had to be postponed.
Created in 2013, by Pathways Ability Society, a non-profit organization that provides services for locals with diverse abilities, the event was started as a way to showcase the diversity of our community.
This Wednesday morning at 10am outside City Hall, City of Kelowna Mayor, Colin Basran will deliver what has become an annual tradition for the community; the reading of a Proclamation officially declaring October ‘Community Inclusion Month’ in Kelowna.
Following the Proclamation reading, Mayor Basran will join representatives from Pathways Abilities Society, Community Connections Support Services and Community Inclusion BC, as well as members of the public in attendance, for the creation of the Community Inclusion Chain down Water Street along with the singing of the Canadian National Anthem.
“This event is a reminder of how important it is for a strong, healthy community to be inclusive. All individuals, regardless of their ability, contribute to our community,” said Charisse Daley, Executive Director for Pathways.
