Maureen Lee wasted no time verifying her good fortune after recently winning the top prize of $675,000 from a Set for Life scratch and win ticket.

The Kelowna woman purchased the ticket from Save-On-Foods on Cooper Road and was at home when she scratched her way to a life-changing prize.

“I got into the car with my husband and we drove to the closest gas station to verify that the win was real,” she explained.

She said her husband was “so shocked” and described her own emotions as “up and down, just like a roller coaster!”

Lee said there was plenty of disbelief, as the windfall left her speechless, but once it set in the couple celebrated with a “very nice” bottle of wine.

The retiree and snowbird enjoys spending her winters in Arizona and is looking forward to the ease that the major lottery win will bring to her retirement.

She plans to use the money to pay off her mortgage and will gift a portion of the funds to her children.
