When Sherrill Atchison noticed that her Lotto 6/49 ticket from the Sept. 22 draw had won $1 million, she was in such disbelief that she asked her friend to verify the ticket.

“I grabbed my friend and told her to come with me to verify the ticket and I remember saying, ‘I think my eyeballs are upside down,’” she recalled.

The pair went to Capri Centre Mall, where the Kelowna resident had purchased the ticket, and confirmed the life-changing win at the Independent Grocer.

With that out of the way, Atchison was finally able to soak in the fact that she was an instant millionaire and think about what she might do with the money.

The first thing on the list is a little retail therapy.

“This win will make life a little more comfortable and I can now go shopping and buy whatever I need,” explained Atchison.

She will want to buy some new bathing suits while shopping, because Atchison also plans to embark on a trip to Mexico, which would be the woman’s first ever trip outside of Canada.
