This year’s work at Kerry Park is nearing completion.

Construction of the first phase of Kerry Park is now mostly complete, with only pedestrian lighting and seating still to be done.

Those are scheduled for October.

Work began in May, where the area around the new Tourism Kelowna building was under construction to accommodate sidewalks, furniture, landscaping, light fixtures and the promenade.

“Extending the waterfront promenade and landscaping the area of the old ferry landing is a great way to improve public use of the old parking lot that was on the waterfront at the end of Queensway Avenue,”  said Andrew Gibbs, senior project manager.

“The remainder of Kerry Park is expected to be updated in the future as funding is available.”

Until construction of the proposed Westcorp hotel development breaks ground, there will be a temporary short-term paid parking lot available at the foot of Queensway Avenue.

Hourly parking will apply seven days a week from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.
