Spring arrived last week and the City of Kelowna is preparing to open many of its parks and beaches.

As of Monday, Knox Mountain Drive has opened to limited vehicle traffic.

The city reminds residents and visitors that vehicles are allowed up to the Crown lookout, which is about halfway to the peak.

Although the park is open from 6 am to 10 pm, vehicles are restricted from noon to 8 pm daily.

This is the second year of a multi-modal strategy that was endorsed by city council in late 2021.

The strategy is an effort to accommodate as many different park users as possible, while ensuring everyone’s safety.

These limitations are in place seven days a week.

The city says bathroom facilities at other parks and beaches are scheduled to open next week.
