A smoky haze could be seen drifting from the lineup that awaited cannabis icon Tommy Chong in Kelowna on Friday evening.
The comedian, actor, musician and cannabis rights activist was making his first visit north of the border following Canada's legalization of cannabis.
Chong cordially greeted dozens of people where he signed Cheech & Chong vinyl records, bongs and posed for photos with people from all demographics.
Hosted by Kelowna's Diablo Nutrients, the event also featured several cannabis companies promoting their brands of CBD oils and of course, marijuana.
The 80-year-old, who starred in the famous reefer comedy Up In Smoke in 1972, spoke to a large crowd where congratulated Canada on legalization and promoted the benefits cannabis has had on his life.
“It was inevitable, because weed is such a positive medicine for the planet,” said Chong to the Toronto Star this week.
Now it’s all changed. The exciting part about it, it’s now presentable. We don’t have to hide. I’m like a walking marijuana information bureau.”
