Kelowna city council has forwarded plans for large multi-family development in Rutland to a public hearing.
The five-storey, 90-unit, building is proposed for the corner of of Highway 33 East and Sadler Road.
If approved, the development would be built on a property listed on the Kelowna Heritage Registry known as the Sproul Farm House, which is believed to have been built in 1906.
According to city staff, properties on the Heritage Registry are not necessarily Heritage Designated properties and are not granted long-term heritage protection.
However, the city paused the original application in order to explore options with the owner in an attempt to preserve the heritage value of the asset.
As a result, portions inspired by the original home will be incorporated into the proposed development if given the green light by council.
Two levels of structured parking providing 91 stalls with access along the north property line of the site is proposed.
The public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 3 beginning at 6 pm.
