An annual fundraiser is in the books and Kelowna Hyundai and Buy Direct Truck dealers have made a big donation to Kelowna General Hospital (KGH).

The $20,000, raised through the fourth annual Operation 200, will go towards the hospital’s Interior Heart & Surgical Centre (IHSC).

It kicked off in June, with a goal of selling 200 vehicles and donating $100 from each sale to the hospital, which the two dealerships accomplished.

This donation is part of an ongoing goal to raise $100,000 for the IHSC to purchase life-saving equipment and other patient care items.

KGH’S IHSC provides advanced cardiac care and surgical services to patients who would have had to travel outside the Okanagan for this kind of treatment in the past.

Is a cause close to Kelowna Hyundai owner John Kot’s heart, as his now 22-year-old daughter, Jenessa, was born with a heart condition.

“Having a world-class surgical environment and cardiac specialists, right here in Kelowna, is really important to us,” says Kot.  “Each year brings us closer to our overall goal. We are really proud of our team and our customers for making this gift possible.”

The IHSC at KGH is one of just five cardiac centres in British Columbia and it’s the only one east of Metro Vancouver.
