A local hairdressing assistant and make-up artist is excited to be shaving her head next week.

Gabrielle Sawatzky will be shaving her head for Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Pomme Salon on October 27th at 6 p.m.

Each of the girls at the salon will be helping Sawatzky out with her new look by taking turns shaving a section of her head into a nice buzzcut.

Sawatzky says that she is doing it in memory of her Grandmother, who passed away from Breast Cancer when Sawatzky was around two or three years old.

‘I’m actually really excited,” she says. She adds that her Grandfather is mentally preparing to see her with her new look, as it will remind him of his wife.

“It’s going to be a really emotional time,” says Sawatzky.

The whole thing will be live-streamed on the Pomme Salon Instagram page, and she will be donating her hair to Locks of Love.

In addition, she is also running a fundraising campaign for breast cancer research with a goal of $2,000.

The Pomme Salon is inviting people to come down and watch, donate, and win prizes at their salon next Friday.
