A man has been arrested after Kelowna Mounties were called about a possible case of unlawful confinement.
Police said a “rapidly evolving” investigation was begun on Sunday after a report came in at about 9 am of a woman allegedly being held against her will.
As part of the response, plainclothes police joined uniformed and tactical officers during a visit to a home in the 300 block of Prior Road North in Rutland.
“With the safety of all those involved including neighbours, responding officers and the reported victim, the incident prompted the temporary closure of roadways in the immediate area and a temporary hold and secure of nearby residences,” said RCMP Cst. Solana Paré.
“The unfolding events concluded just after 3 pm when police located the male suspect and female victim in a black pickup truck near Highway 97 N and Adams Road where the man was taken into custody.”
The man’s identity has not been released, and neither has any information about potential charges.
The RCMP said officers “continued to secure the residence” as investigators waited on a search warrant.
Police added: “Due to the nature of the ongoing investigation, no further information is being released at this time.”
