(Original story: Feb. 18 @ 11:05 am) - A Calgary man has had his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days after a late night accident on the William R. Bennett Bridge.

West Kelowna RCMP responded to the single-vehicle crash shortly after 10 pm on Sunday.

The 31-year-old had collided with barricades on the bridge and slid down the adjacent embankment, landing on its side.

First-responding officers detected signs of impairment on the driver and demanded he take a breathalyzer test, which resulted in a fail.

He was issued a 90-day prohibition from driving under the Immediate Roadside Prohibition program and his vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 30 days.

BC Emergency Health Services medically assessed him at the scene and he appeared relatively uninjured, says police.

If you witnessed the accident on Sunday night, you’re asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.
