Man wanted Canada-wide arrested in Kelowna after hitting police car and flipping stolen truck

Kelowna RCMP were able to arrest a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant this morning.

Officers were informed that  the man was in a residence on Gerstmar Road around 8:45 a.m. today.

When they reached the residence, they couldn’t immediately locate the wanted man, but saw him run from the adjacent residence while waiting nearby.

The foot pursuit continued through a construction site and down several streets, at which point officers watched the man jump into an unoccupied idling truck.

The suspect turned onto Hein Road, where he collided with an unmarked police vehicle and flipped the stolen truck onto its roof.

He was extricated from the flipped truck and immediately arrested, suffering no injuries in the process.

The man will attend court on the outstanding warrant and will now likely face additional charges based on this morning’s events.
