(UPDATE: March 19 @ 9:45 am) – Power has now been restored to 1,176 residents along Lakeshore Road.
Electricity was restored shortly after 9:30 am after going out at about 5:45 Sunday morning.
FortisBC crews will continue to complete permanent repairs to a damaged power pole.
People are asked to avoid Lakeshore Road, near Rotary Beach if possible.
(UPDATE: Mar. 19 @ 8:45 am) – More than 1,100 Kelowna residents remain without power Sunday morning.
However, in a recent update provided by a FortisBC spokesperson, there is also a road closure on a portion of Lakeshore Road..
Crews are working to repair a power pole that was damaged during an early morning vehicle incident, explains the spokesperson.
“To complete the work, Lakeshore Road will need to be closed by Rotary Beach and drivers will be detoured,” says a statement from FortisBC.
“Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible and if they are in the area, to follow all traffic controls.”
Fortis expects temporary repairs to be completed and power restored by about 10:30 am.
However, traffic may continue to be affected after the power is restored as crews complete permanent repairs to the power pole.
(Original story: March 19 @ 7:43 am) – Nearly 1,200 Kelowna residents are without power Sunday morning.
According to FortisBC, a power outage hit the South Pandosy area at about 5:43 am.
The outage is affecting 1,176 people.
The cause of the power outage is unknown at this time, however, crews are working to repair the issue.
Unfortunately, an estimated time of restoration is not yet known.
