On Tuesday, Aug. 6, Lindsay Austin gave birth to a baby girl.
Little baby Lennon entered the world, but what should have been the happiest day of Lindsay Austin’s life took a devastating turn for the worse.
She started experiencing major complications and was diagnosed with Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (AHUS), which is a very rare autoimmune disease.
A few days after giving birth, she was transferred from Kelowna General Hospital to Vancouver General Hospital.
With her body essentially attacking itself, Lindsay has undergone dialysis sessions, plex treatments and multiple ongoing tests.
She’s barely had a chance to hold her new baby girl.
Lindsay has now been approved for one dose of the costly drug required to treat AHUS, but further treatment will depend on the results of certain tests.
As a result, a GoFundMe has been created to help Lindsay, her husband and baby Lennon in this dire time of need:
With Lindsay needing to be in Vancouver for an indeterminate amount of time, we would love to help them out with their expenses so that JJ can continue to juggle visiting Lindsay in the hospital and taking care of baby girl Lennon without having to worry about lost work and other financials at this time.
In less than 24 hours, the GoFundMe, which started with a goal of $10,000, has already raised more than $16,500.
