Another Tim Hortons has been approved for Kelowna.

On Monday, Kelowna city council approved the new location along Highway 97 within the Canadian Tire parking lot adjacent to the Kanata Hotel.

The Tim Hortons will include drive-thru service and must be constructed within the next two years as per the issued permit.

Councillor Ryan Donn was the lone council member in opposition due to the future restaurant supporting a drive-thru in a walkable area.

City planners supported the proposal, saying the drive-thru's proximity to Highway 97 led to a comprehensive study by the Transportation Ministry that determined it would be a positive addition to the corridor.

The new Tim Hortons will become the 19th franchise location in Kelowna and sit a block away from an already established Tim Hortons in the Esso gas station.
