Kelowna city council will consider a new apartment project during their weekly meeting on Monday, Aug. 10.

The building is proposed for 1021 Lawson Avenue in an area with several similar residential buildings at the edge of Kelowna’s downtown.

According to development plans, the four-storey building would consist of 16 units, with one studio and three one-bedroom apartments on each floor.

Plans call for those units to range from 458 to 612 square feet.

Each unit would come with a below-ground parking stall and the building would feature two visitor stalls.

The project does require rezoning along with several variances, two of which are related to parking stall sizes.

City staff is recommending council approve the rezoning and multiple variances.

If approved, a single-family dwelling on the property would be demolished.
