A healthcare worker from Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is speaking out against charging for parking during the current health crisis.
A nurse, who wishes to remain anonymous, says that pay parking is still in effect at the hospital, and that it only adds insult to injury at the end of a long shift.
“It felt like a slap in the face to pay at a machine, with no sanitizer (at the machine) for a 12-hour shift I was dreading to work,” she told NowMedia.
Interior Health confirmed to NowMedia that the issue of pay parking is currently being discussed at the provincial level.
A spokesperson for the health authority added that they are hoping for an update on the matter on Monday.
During the provincial update yesterday, health officials said that another 66 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in BC, for a total of 792 cases. Two more people have died of the virus, both in the Vancouver Coastal Health region.
Of the 792 cases the province has seen so far, 275 patients have recovered.
