It’s set to be a historical performance in the Central Okanagan.

Over 450 students from six middle schools and five secondary schools in SD23 will combine to perform a special piece of music called Kyiv, 2022, written by famous American composer Brian Balmages and conducted by guest conductor, Dennis Colpitts.

This will be the biggest student concert in the region since the 1990s, and it’s all for a good cause.

With admission to the event all by donation, Balmages will be donating 100% of the proceeds to relief organizations in Ukraine.

To date, he has raised more than $50,000 with over 200 bands having scheduled performances across five different countries, with middle school, high school, university, community, and professional ensembles all taking part.

After the performance, community members can browse the vendor fair or food trucks at Prospera Place to the music of a variety of student bands and choirs.

Local artisans, crafters, and businesses will be present and will also be donating a portion of their proceeds to the fundraising effort.

This epic student performance on Sunday, June 25 from 12 pm to 2:30 pm is sure to be one to remember.

Those who are unable to attend the concert can still donate through GoFundMe.
