A resident Trout Creek in Summerland is grateful to her community for all the help she's been getting during the flood season.

Meggi Ross and her neighbours have been helping each other protect their homes from the rising water levels.

"The District of Summerland have been fantastic," said Ross

She added that there have been frequent updates on social media about sand piles at various Trout Creek locations and the 'do-it-yourself' bagging machine set up.

Full pallets of sandbags were delivered to her house on Thursday when they were "getting slammed". Along with the pallets, about 15 city crew, a backhoe, generator and industrial pumps also showed up to help.

"Couldn't ask for more," she said.

Ross said this was the first big south wind since the lake has been high.

"When knew when it hit it would be bad, but not this bad," said Ross.

According to Ross, this flood has brought her neighbours in Trout Creek, Summerland together, helping out and getting to know each other.

"We have always felt privileged to live in this community and this is why," she said. "We are conscious that there are many people around the world and even close by that have lost their lives and homes to flooding so losing a dock, landscaping and a flooded crawl space pale in comparison. We feel very grateful."
