Crews continue to work on phase four of improvements at Rutland Centennial Park and next week it will result in a temporary closure.
The playground will be closed off to the general public from Monday, Sept. 21 until Saturday, Sept. 26 to accommodate the installation of electrical light bases.
“Once the electrical components and irrigation have been installed, crews will begin pouring concrete and placing asphalt to create new pathways,” says a release from the City of Kelowna.
A fence will be put up around the perimeter of the park during excavation, which means the playground will be closed.
It’ll reopen on Saturday, Sept. 26, however, while the remainder of the construction zone stays blocked off.
Park visitors will have to continue using the Rutland Road entrance to utilize open areas of the park until phase four work is completed.
It’s the final phase of work on the park and includes improvements like an event stage, basketball court, ultimate field, junior soccer field, ping pong tables, landscaping and a new washroom.
New water lines and sanitary sewer components have already been installed.
