The Kelowna Fire Department was called out to Rutland for what has been deemed a suspicious shed fire Thursday night.

“Several 911 calls” came in about the fire in the 200 block of Dougall Road South around 8:30 pm.

The first-arriving officer reported an 8’ by 10’ shed that was fully engulfed in flames. The fire extended to a nearby utility pole as well.

Fortunately, the initial crew was able to quickly knock down the fire and there were no injuries reported to either the public or firefighters.

Due to the fire’s suspicious nature, police attended the scene. FortisBC was there as well.

The KFD initially responded with three engines, a rescue unit and a command unit, but the response was downgraded to a single engine and command unit.
