Thousands of beer lovers descended on City Park to enjoy the first ever Kelowna Beer Fest earlier this month.

There were plenty of smiles as people enjoyed craft beer from around the region, food, games, dancing and much more on a beautiful 30°C Okanagan day.

Along with the excitement of a brand new beer festival came the excitement of a new Kelowna restaurant.

The Salt + Brick Group was on hand to unveil their rebrand plans for Bad Tattoo Kelowna on Clement Avenue, which they purchased back in January.

We reported when the sale took place that it would become a “high-end sports bar” and eatery on May 13 the name was revealed: Pretty Not Bad.

The rebranded establishment has the tagline “unconventional sports,” which leaves a lot to the imagination, but also promises arts, culture and community.

“We like the word unconventional to describe what we are doing as we wanted to really go against all of the normal expectations of a sports bar, it was also very important to us that people didn’t think we were just about sports, that’s why we put such a huge focus on our food and beverage program,” said Salt + Brick Group James Addington, managing partner, in a release.

While the new name was unveiled on May 13, Bad Tattoo Kelowna won’t reopen as Pretty Not Bad until late June, so it will still be a few weeks until we see what the space will look like.

Back in January, Salt + Brick Group Managing Partner James Addington told KelownaNow that downtown Kelowna lacks great spots to watch sports and they’re excited to fill the void.

He explained that the “high-end” description is a way of letting people know that the food and beverages associated with their other restaurants will be the standard with this new venture as well.

“Pretty Not Bad, will be focused on delivering exceptional guest experiences with high quality primarily local food and beverage selections in a space you feel comfortable bringing your entire family in to watch and occasional hear sports on our many televisions,” Addington explained.

And that will include the existing Forno pizza oven, which was a big part of the purchase. Not only will pizzas be sticking around in the new establishment, Addington said they will utilize the oven for many other menu items.

Pretty Not Bad will also continue to feature unique, high-quality Okanagan beers as well as unique cocktails and fun wine choices.

We can’t wait to see what Addington and company have done with the space, and menu, when Pretty Not Bad officially opens its door next month!
