A pump has been installed in downtown Kelowna as Okanagan Lake remains above full pool.
The City has put the pump at the Water Street Boat Launch.
It’s expected to remain in place for up to two weeks.
As of early this morning, the lake was at 342.687 metres, up from 342.667 metres yesterday.
Full pool is 324.480 metres.
More rain is in the forecast for the area.
Drivers and pedestrians have been told to be cautious as pedestrians crossing the ramps may not be visible until they step out from behind the pump.
The boat launch will remain open for use.
The City also warned property owners pumping water from structures to do so into natural areas such as nearby creeks, ditches or lawns and not into storm drains or the sanitary sewer system.
Pumping into sanitary sewers can overtax the water treatment facility and lead to potential backups of wastewater onto properties.
Boaters have also been asked to keep their speed low when near the shore to help reduce wake activity.
