The Kelowna RCMP are working closely with the BC Coroners Service to investigate the discovery of a man's body in the early hours of Saturday, June 24th.

Just before 3 a.m., police responded to an abandoned 911 call from a cell phone from the 1900 block of Pacific Court in Kelowna.

Officers searched the area and located a deceased male, along with the cell phone that was used to dial 911, in the parking lot of an apartment building.

“RCMP have been unable to determine a clear cause of death during the initial stages of the investigation into the man’s death,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “As such the Kelowna RCMP Serious Crimes Unit has assumed conduct of the investigation which is continuing at this time and will include an autopsy of the deceased.”

The man was positively identified as a 48-year-old West Kelowna resident, but his name has not been made available at this time.

“In an effort to further our investigation, RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance with the identity of an unknown female (shown above), who police believe may possess valuable information,” O'Donaghey said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cpl. Judith Bertrand of the Kelowna Serious Crimes Unit at 250-470-6327.

You can also report tips anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leaving it online.
