RCMP investigating suspicious grass fire in Kelowna

A grass fire in Kelowna last night is being investigated by the RCMP.

Police assisted the Kelowna Fire Department after they were called at about 9 pm to the slope behind the 500 block of Long Ridge Drive.

The fire was rapidly put out by firefighters.

“RCMP has initiated an investigation and a RCMP fire investigator has examined the scene,” Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said.

“We believe this fire was human-caused and we are actively investigating.”

She added: “Thankfully it was extinguished quickly, and no one was injured. We are now appealing to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area to contact us.”
