Kelowna RCMP are investigating a vehicle collision that occurred this weekend, Sept. 18 just before midnight.

Officers arrived at Springfield Road and Benvoulin Road to find a serious collision between two vehicles.

A grey dodge pickup truck travelling southbound on Benvoulin Road allegedly failed to stop at a red light and struck a grey Hyundai car that was travelling eastbound on Springfield Road.

A 28 year old male passenger in the car suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The driver and second passenger, both 27 year old men, were also sent to the hospital but their injuries are non life-threatening.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 31 year old male, remained at the scene.

“While dealing with the driver, the officer noted signs and symptoms of alcohol impairment,” states Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

“The breath demand was provided to the man, who was taken to the Kelowna RCMP Detachment for breath testing.”

He was later released with a future court date and the complete findings of this investigation will be sent to the BC Prosecution Service for charge approval.

If you witnessed this incident and have not yet spoken to police, you are urged to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and reference file 2021-61949.
