Its that time of year again pup owners of the Central Okanagan, renewal season for dog licenses is upon us.
As per the requirements of the Responsible Dog Ownership Bylaw, all K9 friends within the Central Okanagan are to be licensed as there are hefty fines if you’re caught without one.
A dog license also makes it easier for your pup to return home safely if it gets loose. In 2019, over 20,000 dogs were registered within the region.
Both purchasing a new license, or renewing an existing one, are simple tasks that can be done in person at the Regional District office, online, or by using the My Dog Matters mobile phone app.
In addition to the app being a big time saver, it also manages your dog’s license account, offers a useful rewards program and shows you participating businesses that have special deals for pets and their owners.
If you register before March 1, you can save $20 on the regular license fees, which usually cost $40 for spayed and neutered pups or $80 for those who are not.
