Art lovers and community members with a passion for philanthropy gathered recently at Third Space Coffee for the Rebel With A Cause launch party and art auction.

The Dec. 12 event boasted more than 100 unique pieces of art from all different mediums, created by artists from across the province. Featuring paintings to handmade clothing and jewelry, the gathering included beautiful pieces appealing to every guest.

The event was hosted as a way to introduce the new organization, Rebel With A Cause, a group of alternative and progressive artists from around the province with a big goal — using their art and the creative process as a means of healing and uniting the community.

With the Third Space Life Charity matching every dollar donated, the Rebel With A Cause charity art auction raised  $49,595. The total will continue to rise as the event will be keeping online bidding open until the end of December.

“We’ve been humbled by an overwhelming amount of support and encouragement from our clients, friends and peers. We truly put our hearts and souls, and many hours, into this non-profit event,” said Sam Shakura and Emily Elizabeth, creators of Rebel With A Cause.

We wanted to help showcase all of our artists' work, raise money so that we can further help our community, and connect all of the local artists we admire with our network of supporters to help share the love and grow our industry,” added Shakura and Elizabeth

The funds raised from the event will go towards hosting free, educational art and wellness workshops for the people behind the organizations the Third Space Life Charity supports, including the Karis Society, the Kelowna Women's Shelter, and Freedom's Door.

In addition to enjoying a hands-on experience that is not only fun but educational, attendees will be able to sell their creations on the Rebel With A Cause website and social media platforms for some added income and extra support.
