In this episode of Rick and Friends, Rick Maddison is joined by Mark Burley, the executive director of the Downtown Kelowna Association.

“The downtown core is important because you can walk into a chain store or a chain business and buy whatever it is in there, and you can go to the store next door that’s owned by Bob and Joan who have had it for 20 years,” explained Burley.

“It is the heartbeat of small business for any community because it’s grouped together.”

Maddison and Burley discuss needing a better transit system in Kelowna, the thrill of e-scooters, and Meet Me on Bernard.

Until Sept. 5, Bernard Avenue will be open to pedestrians only, as patios are temporarily extended and activities fill the streets.
