The new Child Advocacy Centre in Kelowna has received a massive donation to help make some important capital investments.

The $25,000 donation comes from the Rotary Club of Kelowna and the CAC’s executive director, Ginny Becker, says she’s beyond grateful for it.

According to Becker, the donation allowed the CAC to put in two colourful murals in their medical exam rooms, insert privacy doors, hang thoughtful artwork and do plenty more.

“Additionally, Rotary Club of Kelowna has funded a much needed critical piece of case management software,” she said.

The CAC is a wrap-around service model that supports Central Okanagan residents under the age of 10 who have experienced abuse or neglect.

It brings together victim advocates, law enforcement, child protection and healthcare workers under one child-friendly roof.

"The impacts of abuse are devastating and can often lie at the root of so many issues impacting our community,” said Lenetta Parry, Rotary Club of Kelowna’s president-elect.

“We believe this is an investment in supporting families and children who are beginning their healing journey.”

The donation from the Rotary Club of Kelowna comes from the organization’s annual FortisBC Rotary Pro-Am Golf Tournament.
